Organizations we can help?

Schools

As a system, we have induced a cycle of problem behavior.  Rules are broken, students get sent home, return to school and the cycle continues.  Suspensions have not changed behavior, so why are we perpetuating this cycle?  Restorative Practice sets high expectations while being supportive, provides direct feedback that fosters accountability, and provides effective methods to resolve common conflicts.

Justice and Law

Vengeance seems to be the primary driving force behind our current criminal policies. When we feel the pain and fear caused by crime, we demand ever greater punishment of offenders. You will learn all the steps required to conduct a restorative justice conference, from determining the readiness of victims, offenders, their families and friends to participate, to running the formal meeting itself.

Community Health

Restorative practices can help communities to flourish. The proactive aspects of restorative practices focus on. building community before a problem arises, rather than responding after a problem has occurred.  Restorative practices can help create the social conditions for people to be healthier and have greater well-being

Businesses

Restorative practices, conceived as an effective way of dealing with offenses in the criminal justice system and more recently with offenses in schools, has significant implications for the seemingly unrelated world of business. In addition to protecting a company’s human capital from the competition, social bonds and improved relationships fostered by restorative practices within an organization create an environment that supports the learning and change demanded by the new knowledge economy.
